BAEd/BSEd Grades 4-8 Science Teacher Certification/MED in Curriculum and Instruction
The Bachelor of Arts in Education and Bachelor of Science in Education 4-8 Science Teacher Certification and the Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction accelerated degree is 165/150-hour program. Graduates from the program will receive both a Bachelor of Arts in Education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction or Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. This non-thesis program is designed for those seeking initial teacher certification and enhanced expertise in the area of curriculum and instruction.
The MED in Curriculum and Instruction is designed for those educators who desire to stay connected to teaching while working with other teachers. Career options for those holding this degree are teacher leader, grade level and/or department chair, content specialist, curriculum specialist, and/or instructional leader. Flexibility is built into the program to allow students to follow a General path or choose specialized degree options including: Bilingual Education, Christian School Administration, English as a Second Language, Learning Technologies, Special Education, and Supervision.

***Elective Requirements
In order to satisfy the “Undergraduate only” portion of an accelerated degree plan, sufficient lower-level and upper-level elective hours must be taken to complete the minimum number of Undergraduate credit hours required for each specific accelerated degree.
Retention in the Educator Preparation Program:
Students must maintain and graduate with an overall institutional GPA of 3.0 and must maintain and graduate with an institutional GPA of 3.0 in their teaching fields/academic concentrations.
At least 12 credit hours in the major program must be completed at Dallas Baptist University, including nine upper-level course hours.
Minimum GPA Required for Graduation from Dallas Baptist University: DBU requires a minimum institutional cumulative, major, and minor GPA of 2.0.
